Pacific Repertory Theatre is the only professional theatre in Carmel and Monterey County. Known as PacRep, the company has announced its 29th season of plays and musicals in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Housed in one of the oldest theatre's in the city, the Golden Bough Playhouse, productions pay homage to PacRep's long-standing mission to present bold and daring interpretations of the great plays of the world stage the literary classics of yesterday, today and tomorrow. Currently, productions in the Golden Bough Playhouse include the hilarious spoof of the Hitchcock classic "The 39 Steps" in rep with the award-winning comedy, "God of Carnage".
The company also presents first-class productions at the city-owned Outdoor Forest Theater, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010. Slated for this year are the Disney musical "Beauty and the Beast" and Shakepeare's romantic comedy "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Julius Caesar".
