Sitting high on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Highlands Inn world famous Pacific's Edge provides an elegant and romantic fine dining experience. Contemporary American cuisine with French influences, an award winning wine list, and for the last three years selected by USA Today as one of the "Top 10 Restaurants in the USA with an Amazing View". Dinner at Pacific's Edge is not to be missed.

The ambiance at the Pacific's Edge creates a perfect atmosphere to enjoy some of the finest contemporary American cuisine, artistically led by Executive Chef Mark Ayers, known for his work at Vail's Patina and the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek. Mark draws upon the Carmel resources to create his unique menu showcasing Roasted Pumpkin Soup, Vanilla Grilled Quail Breast and Monterey Bay Abalone as the appetizing beginning.

Guests may choose three, four or five selections from the menu of such seasonal signature dishes as Prime Beef Braised Short Ribs, that melt in your mouth to Seared Tasmanian Salmon complimented by a wine selected from our Wine Spectator Grand Award winning wine list. Or, you may prefer the Chef's Menu where Executive Chef Mark Ayers and Wine Director Mark Buzan have collaborated to blend remarkable food preparations with stunning wine pairings. And, if you are a wine afficiondado, you can choose from the restaurants award- winning wine list that includes over 1,700 choices.

A selection of Dessert Wines and Ports are also offered, paving the way for delicacies such as White Chocolate Bread Pudding with Black Truffle Ice Cream and White Truffle Anglaise or Lemon Grass Crème Brulee, chocolate crepes with mascarpone mousse, and a roasted a banana tart served with malted chocolate ice cream.

Two prix fix menus are offered, with or without wine. And, this Carmel restaurant also offers a menu of some of the world's finest cigars. Attire is business casual and jackets are preferred. A classical pianist plays Friday and Saturday evenings. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made by phone, or online.

Private dining is available in the Wine Room for ten to forty people. Private cooking and a personal wait staff are a part of the private dining experience at Pacific's Edge. This room is also enclosed in glass to ensure the utmost privacy.

Drinks and Jazz

Prior to dinner, visit the luxuriously comfortable Lobos Lounge to watch the ocean waves crashing on the bluffs below you and enjoy a 360 degree view of the sunset while sipping your favorite cocktail. The selection of classic and specialty drinks and wines is unique and refined for every taste. Open for dinner Thursday through Monday.
